Bow yeah!

Whenever I have a problem, I just sing.
Then I realize my voice is worse than my problem...

It’s a-bow-t time I put some more bows on my cards. I have been very conservative (lol! I never thought I would use that word to describe myself) with the bows lately. I'm not sure if this is bow-crazy (which I was aiming at), but I didn't want to make another card where my little sister would give me another snide comment like: "Uhm more is less..." So this is my version of bow-crazy in the less-is-more kind of way (or so I like to think).

The little doll can be found here at Sherri Baldy Art. The mice come from House Mouse Designs.

The white/light green paper come from the Cardmaking & Papercraft Calendar for 2013 and the green decorative Paper from TGR.

Stars in your eyes

This week we are working with this image at {PIN}spirational Challenges.

We are sponsored by Shelly's images.

So, this is my creation for {PIN}spirational Challenge #68.

I have used Wish upon a star by Shelly's images. I have painted the digi stamp with nail polish (that is the dress plus starfish) and some brown crayons. I have created the sand structure by using the same formula as here (there's a description). The sky was painted with blue and white acrylic paint (another fingerprint painting lol). The waves come from my big sister's digital photo here. The starfish "flowers" in the corners of my card were cut out from an old book I found at the flea market.

Thanks for stopping by!

Santa speaks North Polish

Christmas in July!

What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus...?
Claustrophobic obviously. Duuh.

Card recipe:
*Santa Claus with children on the beach come from an old children's lexicon (under the title "This is how Christmas is celebrated at New Zealand")
*Christmas flowers, candle, sock and golden/red frame were found in ad magazines before last Christmas (I tell you magazines are a gold-mine when it comes to scrapbook-material for X-mas!)
*3D socks from the local craft store Pysselmakaren
*God Jul seal stamp from the Red Cross
*The red background paper is called Järnek röd and comes from Landstoken.

A lovely lady who lost her watch became a timeless beauty

Today I'm cheering on my brilliant and brave little sister, who is walking for human rights in the LGBTQ-parade in Vilnius.  I learned that there were explosive charges in a LGBTQ-parade in Vilnius some years ago, so I'm scared. I'm still ridiculously proud though. She is such a good and decent human being. It has been a privilege to grow up next to her. She helps me grow as a human being. Every single day.

For my dear C.,
there are ten thousand reasons why I love you.

Red-y for fun

I have used the following paper sheets: Calico Berries and Composition Color.
For the glittery floral background I went with a template from Crafts Beautiful (June 2010). The adorable digi girl comes from DigitalPaperCraft. The two tiny butterflies come from a Sunshine Reward Chart (go here). I have painted the different images with stickles, nail polish and crayons.

Whatever floats your boat

Ahoy sailor! Skepp och hoj!

The Sailor girl comes from Sassy Studio. The ferry/boat border, the anchor button and the boat button were all found at a local haberdasher (Ronnys symaskiner). The sailor knots paper was purchased at a local craft store (Pysselmakaren). The harbour background was cut out from an old postcard (call it upcycling?). The map paper came with the Cardmaking & Papercraft Calendar for 2013. The ticket image was cut out from a scrapbook paper called Tickets & Words, dark.

For the sentiment Ahoy I used the Papyrus font and a piece of paper from the Globe trotting patterned papers at Papercraft Inspirations.

Since I painted the sailor girl with chalk, I would like to join in the Chalk-Ah-Lot Cafe - Nautical with chalk challenge.

Send all those villains after me

Here's another mermaid card. The octopus comes from Oak Pond Creations, while the mermaid comes from Dilly Beans. The sentiment is written with the She Shells font. The fishes and algiers were cut out from an old children's lexicon. You can find the blue glittery background paper at Panduro. The starfish was created with Stickles - Cinnamon, while the octopus was painted with Stickles - Eucalyptus. The mermaid was painted with various nail polish and Stickles.

Sunny expedition

Yes, there is such a thing as too much glitter... and you are looking at it.

For this card I have painted with Stickles - Eucalyptus and Stickles - Cinnamon. For the sky I have used acrylic paint and metallic sand paint. I have used Promarker - Cocoa for the fairy's skin. I've also painted with a bunch of different nail polish and some golden acrylic paint.

The fairy comes from Tiddly Inks. The scenery can be found here. The sentiment comes from Papercraft Inspirations - issue 51.

The little bead flowers are home-made.

Mermaid to measure

Mermaids <3
These mermaids can be found here.
I painted them with acrylic paint
and nail polish.

The stitched border is made on my sewing machine. The cord is made with stickles - cinnamon. I found the template for the cord here at PaperCraft Inspirations. The fish template can be found here. The little frog on a stone comes from a flower basket I once had.

The shells were found at the beach in southern Sweden (almost Denmark lol). I lived down there when I studied at the social work school. I used to say I lived in Denmark, cause well... southern Sweden used to be Danish hehe. I lived so down south that I sometimes went through Denmark when I wanted to get from one southern Swedish city to another (oh well that was when I missed the last night train in Sweden... so I had to go through Denmark to get back home in time hehe. Call it bad planning).

The waves were found in a Polish storybook from 1986 (Pan Maluskiewicz i wieloryb). I used the same waves here. I find the illustrations in older Polish storybooks to be very artistic (just look here for other examples and maybe you'll understand why I think so). I painted the sky background. The moon with the cloud comes from Pan Maluskiewicz i wieloryb as well.

The text "Just swimming by to say hi" was created with the JLR Waves font.

In the right spot

I have now tried a sketch challenge. That's the first time for me. I saw this sketch at Friday Sketches and thought it looked nice. I think that people (other card-makers) make cards with great layouts, so I decided to give this a try. I'm not sure if I like the result or not. I think I will continue avoiding sketch challenges...

Here's my version of the sketch. I created the different papers on my computer, except for the paper in the circle, which I finger printed. Lol. Call it finger print art or a mess.
My version of the sketch

And here's my final version.

The fairy is named Ava and comes from Bugaboo Stamps. This week we - at {PIN}spirational Challenges - are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps. We work with this pretty lilac image. ->
Check it out here.

The little clouds come from Bugaboo Stamps as well. The birds and tea cup came with Let's make cards - issue 57.  The Hello sentiment can be found at the Making Spot. I made the strange looking tree, the hearts and the papers.

Leave your wings with me

Mixed media painting (similar to this)
with a fairy image from the Stamping
Chef.
The fairy is painted with ProMarker - Almond (for the skin) and nail polish. The flowers come from the local craft store, and so do the leaves in the corners of my card (I have painted them with green and golden acrylic paint). The little ladybird bead comes from Pärlgården. The background is painted with green, blue, purple, golden and orange acrylic paint mixed with soap (the latter is especially important if you want to create the kind of effect that you can see in the photo). The white stone, which you can see on the right side of my card, was found at the beach. I like to incorporate some natural items in my creations.

Love at frost sight

Here's a Christmas in July card. In Swedish you would say Jul i Juli (that sounds a lot funnier, doesn't it?). You can find the angel image here (for free). She is almost completely painted with nail polish (except for the skin). The red background paper is called Järnek röd and comes from Landstoken. The red, green and yellowish background is actually a big picture of a candle. The seal stamp comes from Panduro. The flowers and leaves come from a former bobeche (is that the right word?). The core comes from a haberdasher (another strange word...).

Dream a little green

For this card I made another Molly (which you can grab if you want to). The stamps come from Spain, Germany, China, Thailand and Czechoslovakia (lol I know it hasn't existed in a looong time).

The Galaxy Next Door

A different kind of card of mine with robots from Papercraft Inspirations and Dr Digi. The robot paper and borders (reboot and white robots on line) can be found here. The tool can be found in Clipart (lol). To the left you can see a nails and screws creation. It's supposed to be a garbage flower of some kind (I made it). Finally I made two borders of red, yellow and blue legos.

To beach her own

Here's a beach card and birthday card for my childhood friend Therése.

In June, I collected a bunch of small shells, small stones and sea glass for card-making. I love to decorate with natural items. Also I collect sea glass. (The thrill I felt, when I once found a piece of red sea glass, was probably very similar to the thrill one must feel when finding gold.)

For this card I didn't only use sea treasures, but also forgotten treasures at home, such as an old fashion catalogue from 2004. Back in the days when I was an aspiring seamstress, I purchased different fashion catalogues, and saved many of them (especially those with sketched models). I believe I found the girl above (which you can see in my card) in Moda Marfy 2004 n.79 or n.78.

As you can see (or so I hope), the sea girl is walking on sand. I am quite satisfied with the texture of the "sand" (I have been trying out different "formulas" for a year now). I think the texture is a lot better than the sand texture here for example (when I look at that card I feel sorry for the poor mermaid since she is so far away from the water lol). So, my new improved sand formula was created by using sand paint mixed with beige, yellow and brown acrylic paint. I also put lots of salt into the mix. Wow, now it almost sounds like I have been making a cake of some sort (the not so very tasty kind - I can ensure you that).

For the water, I just did some brushstrokes in green and blue. Then I put a layer of glitter glaze on it, but I seriously don't know why because I think it looked better before. I'm seriously misusing glitter glaze. It's like an addiction. The glitter glaze addiction. The waves were found in an old fairytale-book.

I created the happy birthday sentiment at Cool Text.

In the end I framed my card with fresh water pearls... because I thought it was a good idea by some reason (maybe it wasn't).
